“This is, indeed quite interesting, coming a day after concluding our 3-day “International Conference on Insurgency and the Phenomenon of Boko Haram” here in Kano (www.ibhconference2018.org). It was arranged by BUK’s Centre for Islamic Civilisation and Interfaith Dialogue. The conference had considered education as a cardinal issue in the BH phenomenon. I was in the office of the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission a couple of weeks ago when one of the Directors came in to discuss the arrangements for the foundation laying ceremony of the Army University. Allah Ya yi mana jagora. Thanks for sharing and best regards.” – Professor Ismaila A. Tsiga

“It is a worthy effort by the author. The fact that another Biu son is paired with you to up his contributions to the building of this country in general, and Biu at the micro level, indicates the high esteem you have earned and the recognition your work has gained. Respected and highly appreciated on a wide scale is rare. You have both achieved that. Thank you.” – Salisu Na’inna Dambatta

“The establishment of the Army University in Biu is a great achievement. Gen. Buratai deserves commendation for that and other achievements in the fight against Boko Haram. You more than any other Northerner has made immense contribution to Administration, Security and scholarship for which you deserve the recognition espoused in the write up. My esteemed regards and respect, Sir.” – Suleiman Halliru

“Thank you for sharing. A good insight into the establishment of the Army University and the geopolitics of Borno State. However, on catchment area, I believe the people of Biu and the Army University will benefit more by expanding the area to become national (equal number per state) instead of North East region alone. Kind regards and fatan anyi weekend lafia.” – Wada Maida

“Good day sir. I enjoyed reading Abdullahi G. Abubakar’s article published in the Blueprint newspaper, that you forwarded to me. He no doubt, through the article, informed the world of who I know you to be- an erudite writer and scholar. Certainly, sir, you are much more a global figure than a local champion that he tries to convey. Your horizon is beyond Biu or Borno State, irrespective of Mr. Abubakar’s passion. Many people, including my humble self, see you beyond what the article conveys. I quite appreciate the author’s concern and perspective, in light of Borno geopolitics, hence, I commend his efforts. Lopsidedness of policy formulation, narrow mindedness, selfishness and parochial interests of some of our so called leaders in “Northern” Nigeria, are some of the factors that hinder education in the Northeast; the consequences of which we are harvesting today.

“With people like you sir, that is urbane, intelligent, articulate, focused and broad minded, I am sure, the North and indeed the Northeast would retrace its steps, and invest in quality education. Investment in human capital is the panacea to our current insecurity situation.

“We are grateful to Gen. Buratai for establishing an Army university in Biu. The benefits of locating the university in Biu are enormous, not only to the people of Biu, but also to neighboring towns and villages. I am yet to read the document establishing the university so as to know its vision, mission and objectives. Sir, probably when I access and study the document, I would discuss my opinion with you. I commend Mr. Abubakar’s effort at brilliantly discussing your literary contributions to humanity as well as the projection of Biu to the world. We need more of his type. Once again, thank you sir, for the article.” – Gen. Lawrence P. Ngubane (rtd)

“How are you and the family? I hope all is fine and well. I congratulate you for all your achievements as I follow you with interest. I read virtually everything about you, for example your piece on Chief Falae and the celebration of his 80th Birthday in his village and even the one you sent to me, I have read it in ThisDay Newspaper.

“I salute you and commend your efforts as a star and a distinguished citizen of this country. Please keep it up and history will surely have a place for you. I am pleased with the setting up of a University in Biu with all the attendant benefits I know, because of not only my interest in education but also within my domain in Ota and Ogun State. Our major resource is investment in education and knowledge and we have some Universities.

“We join you in this venture of faith and your delight should be “that you are contributing to knowledge, creativity and human development”. The spinoffs are creating employment and advancing the skills of the people in Biu and environs. We are fine and CISME is doing well in spite of the challenges in this country. We are grateful to the Almighty for His grace, good health and the gift of contentment. CISME is putting up a Knowledge Centre at Lekki incorporating Climate, Environment, Sustainable Development, knowledge, Digital and Human Capital Development. I am hoping that we can find avenue to work together. I hope it will be possible to get Sponsors   with the possibility if it is acceptable to you to provide a platform for you in our “Lessons in Leadership Programme” which we are starting next year after the elections. The Programme is a key component of CISME contributions to advancing leadership principles as a philosophy and a way of life for all Nigerians.

“CISME has developed a robust curriculum on “Lessons in Leadership” to be delivered by the most respected leaders from across the public, private and academia sectors. I am sure we can both explore all avenues to ensure its realisation. We can also look at the possibility of the Lt Gen sometime sharing his experience on the challenges in the Zone, the University and opportunities available.

“I must also mention our Creativity Programme “Literary Cafe”, which is to promote reading culture, boost confidence in communication, delivery skills and personality. We can create a platform for you at this program, design to rekindle reading culture and literary activities among the citizens. We believe that you will be able to share your experience on any of your Books with the participants with you as the “Reader”.

“I have been out of Nigeria for about five months and I hope to be back before the end of the month. Please I shall appreciate it if you can send your number and that of Chief Mrs Odife as I missed most of my numbers when I changed my phone.

“I must thank you for remembering me, I am really grateful and I pray that Allah will remember you for good. I pray that good health will be your portion. Please my compliments to your wife and family. I look forward to our meeting soon and getting closer. I remember Dennis on a number of occasions and continue to pray to God to grant him peaceful rest. Regards from my wife.” – Prince Lekan Fadina

“Quite inspiring opinion. Well done, sir.” – Prof. Isa Mshelgaru

“Congratulations on the great achievement. Biu will forever be grateful to you, Buratai and the Commander in Chief. I really did not know much about the University. I thought it was solely for the armed forces. But from the appreciation from a lofty son of Biu, it appears civilians may be admitted there. Whatever be the case, the project will certainly impact Biu economy positively and uplift the standard of living in Biu and environ as well as provide higher education opportunity for all Nigerians. Once more, thank you for your contribution and thanks to the scholar who had the fine spirit to give honour to whom it is due. Cheers!” – Moses Akpobasah

“Thank you very much for this. It makes a very nice reading and beautifully written, eulogizing the two prominent Nigerians of Biu Emirate extraction. May Allah SWT continue to spare the two of you for us and shower you with wisdom and courage to be of service to our dear country Nigeria, and Biu, the Emirate and its lovely and hospitable people that I am so emotionally attached to and admire so much, respectively. A kwana lafiya sir.” – Prof. Gidado Tahir

“Good work Sir. Am so privileged to know you and the good work you have done and still doing. May God bless and increase you in wisdom and strength. I just read the piece. You are indeed a great masterpiece. Am glad you are being appreciated this way. Sir, sorry I have not contacted you since…Thank you sir.” – Hyelni Bamanga

“Dr., I saw you in the newspaper two days ago. Your literary works were very well acknowledged. It also exposed the fact that the head of our military, Buratai is your brother. Congrats D.G. That is what life is all about; impacting positively in others. May God continue to bless the works of your hands.” – Lady Stella A. Odife
